Luis San Narciso will receive the "Nacho Martinez" award to his professional career and human value in film industry
Luis San Narciso (Mieres, 1959) is one of the best known Spanish casting directors, both in the national and international scene. He was born in the Asturian city of Mieres and got a degree on Business management by the Universidad de Oviedo. His career took a sudden turn when he moved to Madrid in the mid 80's, as he finished his studies on Dramatic Art at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático in Madrid. Nowadays he's the casting director in some successful series produced by Globomedia and such directors as Pedro Almodóvar, Alejandro Amenábar, Gracia Querejeta, Ridley Scott, Fernando León de Aranoa, José Luis Cuerda, Pablo Berger, Fernando González Molina, Emilio Aragón or Oskar Santos rely on him for their films.

Gracia Querejeta opened the doors of casting direction for him in the film By my side again. Among his works are movies like Mondays in the Sun (Fernando León de Aranoa, 2002), Torremolinos 73 (Pablo Berger,2003), The Sea Inside (Alejandro Amenábar, 2004), Héctor (Gracia Querejeta, 2004), Queens (Manuel Gómez Pereira, 2005), Captain Alatristre (Agustín Díaz Yanes, 2006), Volver (Pedro Almodóvar, 2006), The Blind Sunflowers (José Luis Cuerda 2008), Three Steps Above Heaven (2010) and I want You (2012) by Fernando González Molina, or Ridley Scott's or Pedro Almodóvar's latest films, The Councelor (2013) and I'm so excited (2012), respectively.

He also works as art director at Globomedia and has turned such TV series as Periodistas, 7 vidas, Paco's Men, Countdown, Compañeros, Un paso adelante, Los Serrano, Aída, The Boarding School, Águila Roja or The Boat into a success thanks to his work with actors

San Narciso has boosted the career of actors like Javier Cámara, Belén Rueda, Fernando Tejero, Carmen Machi, Paz Vega, Candela Peña, Lola Dueñas, Alejo Saura, Unax Ugalde, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Martín Rivas, Mario Casas, Amaia Salamanca, Blanca Suárez or Yon González. He has also relaunched the career of veterans actors like Blanca Portillo, Amparo Baró, Lola Herrera, Julia Gutiérrez Caba or Cristina Marcos, thanks to his passion for theatre.

The award was born in 2002, thanks to the initiative of the present director of Gijon International Film Festival with the support of Nacho Martínez's family, as an homage to the late actor. The award consists of a unique sculpture made by Jaime Herrero, and given altruistically to the Festival.

Luis San Narciso will receive this award for his personal and professional work in Spanish cinema.
