ANIMAFICX Prize
Window Horses (The Poetic Persian Epiphany of Rosie Ming)
by Ann Marie Fleming (Canadá, 2015)

“All the seven features had beauty of its own and quality but unfortunately we had to pick only one. We looked at the flow of the narrative, art directions, character concepts, movements, turning points within the story and also if the time length of the film was appropriate for the narrative. We found ‘Window Horses’ ticked all the boxes. Animation narrative is different from that of live action based for many reasons. One example is that very often the directors have to imagine the world from almost nothing but from their own heads. The possibilities for the style of artworks and illustrations, what the world on screen can look like, can be infinite. So much energy is spent on this and often the narrative element is compensated. It’s such a sheer balance. In ‘Window Horses’ we thought the story and artwork worked hand in hand, no more or less, complimenting and supporting each other very well”.
