Awarded in festivals all around the world ( Venice, Chicago, Thessaloniki, Seville, Prague) Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson’s debut feature film takes us to the spectacular scenery of a distant Icelandic village. Teenagers Thor and Christian are living a turbulent summer. While one is trying to get a girl’s attention, the other one starts to develop unsuspected feelings towards his best friend. When the summer ends and the harsh character of Iceland’s nature becomes more prevalent, the tine for games is over and both will have to deal with the adult reality.
  • This well-performed, atmospheric film (the Icelandic scenery proves its own memorable character) gains a stirring head of steam in its third act as a dire action has unexpectedly healing, credibly affecting consequences. Gary Goldsten (Los Angeles Times)
  • Affecting as well as perceptive in how it intimately depicts the awkward blossoming of youth, Heartstone wades into the crowded coming-of-age genre with just the right amount of confidence, compassion and clear-eyed style. Sarah Ward (Screendaily)
